Technicians that are not only skilled "wrenches", but equally skilled in working with computers and software programs.

Another high growth market is the "aftermarket" modified street/race segment… where "Mod Shops" transform customer's stock vehicles into personalized works of art with high performance power trains and modified chassis and suspensions.

An emerging career opportunity, once only employing only a select few, is the professional racing sector. Increased national T.V. coverage and the advent of the Speed Channel cable network has turned auto racing into the fastest growing spectator sport in the industry. The influx of local race tracks and million dollar race track complexes, holding 150,000 plus fans, have created an increase in the number of race teams. This phenomenal growth has increased the need for more skilled race team technicians. How many? The average NASCAR race team employs over 200 employees.

The curriculum of the Shelby Automotive Technology Program is designed with one goal in mind - to prepare students for the workforce. Our classes and hands-on training will prepare students in the following areas.

• Electrical/Electronic Systems
• Engine Performance
• Suspension & Steering
• Automatic Transmissions and Transaxles
• Engine Repair
• Heating & Air Conditioning
• Manual Drive Train & Axles

Automotive Technician Certificate
The Automotive Technician Certificate Program (32 weeks) covers all eight areas of training required by ASE/NAFTEF. Intense hands on training. Fiancial Aid and evening courses are available.

Associate Of Applied Science Degree
Students complete general academic classes in addition to the Automotive Technician Certificate classes. Students graduate with a full Associates degree.
